THE SALVATION

Kavisamraat VISWANATHA SATYANARAYANA

Translated from Telugu by

M. PRABHAKARA RAO

I:          Actor! What is thy supposition

about salvation?

Actor:   On my facial expressions

this world dances; that is my destination.

I:          Painter! What is thy assumption?

Which is thy dependence?

Painter: From my brush’s edge

emerges a figure ensouled by Rasa.

That is my soul and goal.

I:          Singer! How do thou solve?

What is thy hold?

Singer: That is my sole hold;

when melodious sounds are

merged in the middle of my tone.

I:          Now, I am questioning also thee

O poet! What is thy salvation?

Which is thy solution?

Poet:    Thou if undisturb me

I am a great Yogi;

but why do thou question me?
