THE SONG OF PEACE

Dr. C. Jacob

The fragrant paste of sandalwood,

The sweet scent of jasmines white

Are names different for a good heart;

For, once the heart is made good,

With wants nil one can live.

In the eyes with which you see,

The entire universe lies;

In the mind with which you think,

Peace and happiness are hid.

The mind if once is made calm,

No need there is for outward help:

He who conquers his mind first

Surely succeeds in everything.

Subdue your tongue flippant

And fill your mind with stillness;

Enfold unto you every man

And reach the pinnacle of peace.
