THE MONSTER
K. M. Kale
Of your
technological progress
O man, do not
be so proud
And do not in
its praise
Hysterically
shout aloud.
You cannot
swim like fish
And cannot
fly like a bird
And even to
walk on earth
You haven’t
truly learned.
So over other
creatures
Do not your
superiority claim
But, if
possible, hang your head
Justifiably
in utter shame.
For you’ve
achieved progress
At the cost
of dangerous pollution
And created
many a problem
Which seem to
have no solution.
All the
creatures dread
Your terrible
sight
And ere you
approach
Take a
trembling flight.
Even the
stars shake
At your
sinister approach
And the wind
disgusted
Howls its
painful reproach.
You are the
greatest monster
The earth has
ever known
For the seeds
of its annihilation
You’ve very cruelly sown.
