LONE SAILOR
Dr. R. JANARDANA RAO
Decks broken, sails wind lashed
Time - worn hulls discarded ashore
A few boats left for living
The wrinkled sailor lives on.
With mixed bag of praise and defeat
On the shoulder of his memories
Reminiscens of the past,
Expediencies of the present
Voices of the gay young around
The island yet with winds moaning
The lone sailor lives on.
A strange look into the yond horizon
For delivery from marooned life
As the time wind lashes bringing
Bountiful births and deaths mingled
With stars and rainbows, hopes raising
Euphoria and phobias interspersed
With pearl drops of tears
Of joys and sorrows
The lone sailor lives on.
