Dr. R. JANARDANA RAO
Sadness, that dim light, shall be my guide
Music subdued and plaintive shall me console
Pleasures deceptive be from my path away
Peace in melancholy shall I find ever
Resigned from the active profit-seeking world
I shall remain behind with the unshed tear
Covering the dripping heart with courage
No trace of sorrow, neither glee, revealed
Sombre, grim, purposive active yet sad
Silent persistent sadness shall be my song
Of my soul, sweet yet bitter in flavour
Ambitious subdued, to the lot reconciled
Silent suffering shall be the title of my
book
To the dazzling lights and pleasure I’ll be away.
