DEVOTION OR DESTRUCTION?

N. Seetharambai

Bleeds my heart to witness human carnage

Blurring once again the twin cities image

I tried to probe into the nest of camouflage

Probably that gave shelter to the presage

To my dismay I discovered Religion

Once again sowing seeds of destruction

Man has travelled from the primitive stone age

To the sophisticated space age

But hardly could one witness any change

In his religious patronage

Fights between followers of different faiths,

Ireland in the west

India in the East

Israel in the South West

Continue to follow their old paths.

Man takes pride in setting his foot on Moon

And boast of scaling the other planets soon

But couldn’t reach the summit of religious tolerance

By accepting the Almighty’s Omnipresence.

Abominable Intolerance

Already started to derail

All human values

And the law of the jungle seems to prevail

Oh lord, this inflammation is becoming incurable

Making life in the world unbearable

Our life is too short to wait

For the arrival of your Messiah

Delay now only converts many a Conformist

Into Agnostic

Further confounding confusion

Awake and arouse Rationality

Dormant amongst Humanity

Indifference at this juncture

Leads only to the destruction of social structure
