AUTUMN SONG
Maria Netto
Tread carefully,
I do understand your haste.
The rust-hued carpet beckons
Oh so enchantingly…
The hot kiss of the Sun’s passion
The quiver of scented breeze,
The satin touch of summer saying
goodbye,
All weave together the splendour of
the falling leaves.
Just a step will suffice,
To create a flurry of autumn
madness…
Fluttering in frenzy the dancing
leaves
Weave their spell and draw me
close;
And beg me “tread gently lest you
trample on my dreams”.
